BackupBuddy is a WordPress plugin that is an all-in-one solution for backups, restoration, and migration. We prefer to recommend a WordPress Managed Hosting solution but if you (or your clients) are using a host that doesn’t offer an easy backup/restore solution then BackupBuddy is what you need.
Backup your WordPress site:
BackupBuddy makes it easy to save either just your website database or a zip file of your entire WordPress site. Other free WordPress plugins will backup just your database but if your site crashes, your computer dies and you’ve lost original images and other files you will be facing a lot of work to restore your site. You can schedule backups to happen automatically on a regular basis. You can also do a manual backup just before updating your WordPress installation and plugins. That way if your site crashes you can relax knowing you have a complete current backup.
You can even set BackupBuddy to save to a remote off-site location such as a Dropbox folder, Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud, an FTP/FTPS account, or to your email.
Migrate a WordPress site to another domain or server:
If you want to move your website you’ll find that Backup Buddy does it for you. You upload the importbuddy.php script and your backup file, and it restores WordPress: your themes, widgets, plugins, and everything else. No need to install WordPress first!
After purchasing save the zip file to your computer. Then go to plugins and click add new, upload the file and activate the plugin.
To work, BackupBuddy will need a license key. Click on “Licenses” beside the key icon in your list of plugins.
