We now only recommend WordPress Managed Hosting. If you choose one of our recommended hosts, WordPress will be automatically installed for you. You don’t need to do this.

How do I Install WordPress with cPanel?

If you use Hostgator as your website host, here are steps for you to follow to install WordPress.  If you have signed up for shared hosting with another host with a cPanel, these instructions may still help you.

STEP 1:

LOGIN to cPanel – your hosting control panel – Go to yourdomain.com/cpanel or click on the HostGator link from your welcome email. This control panel is where you will also create email accounts and manage hosting support tickets among other things.

STEP 2:

Scroll down to Software/Services and click on Quick Install

STEP 3:

From the navigation on the left-hand side under Blog Software select WordPress then Continue

STEP 4:

Fill in the required information. Select the domain that you want to use for this WP installation. Leave the directory field blank so that WordPress in the root directory (no ugly extensions on the end of your URL).

If you are installing WordPress on a domain other than your primary domain you will need to add the domain in cPanel before installing WordPress.

and click INSTALL NOW!

STEP 5:

After WordPress is finished installing, you should see a Congratulations! message like the one below with a link to click “here”. Click that link and it will bring you to your newly installed WordPress blog!
